The Happy Homestead is an outdoor setting and so, children need to be appropriately dressed and prepared for all types of weather to keep them safe and comfortable.

Summer

• Sun cream

• Sun hats (preferably with a long back to protect the child’s neck)

• Long sleeved top to protect against the sun (and when using tools etc.)

• Long trousers, leggings or jogging bottoms that are comfortable and easy to move in (these are a necessity to protect against scratches on legs)

• Closed toe outdoor shoes (not sandals)

• Socks

• Insect repellent

• Water Bottle

• Rucksack

• Lunch

Autumn & Spring

• Warm clothing in layers so the children can adapt to changes in weather from cold to warm

• Closed toe outdoor shoes (not sandals), wellies or waterproof walking boot

• Warm hat

• Gloves

• Water Bottle

• Rucksack

• Lunch

Winter

• Thermal top and bottoms as base layer

• 1 long sleeved top

• 1 long sleeved jacket or hoodie

• Waterproof, thermal jacket (optional)

• Warm hat (preferably on that has flaps that cover your child’s ears)

• Scarf, snood, or buff

• 2 pairs of gloves

• 2 pairs of socks, one normal and one extra thick pair

• Thermal wellies (Neoprene or fleece lined) or waterproof walking boots.

• Water Bottle

• Rucksack

• Lunch

Spare clothes and shoes in a must in every season. Plus a wet bag for any wet clothes and shoes.

The Happy Homestead will provide Summer and Winter waterproofs for every child.
